Our material: Hemp is one of the least polluting natural fibers, so we bet on a product with a high percentage of this fiber. It does not need herbicides or pesticides since it does not suffer pests. Only 200-500 liters of water are used to produce 1kg of dried hemp. On the other hand, 10 times more are needed to grow 1kg of cotton. It is the plant with the greatest regeneration power of O2. Our Production: It all starts in the mountains of the villages of western Nepal. There is the tradition of hemp for centuries. In these villages, rural families cultivate and collect it. It is then boiled to obtain the fibers of the inner part that later join to obtain the thread. The thread is taken to Kathmandu, specifically to a community in the Budhanilkantha neighborhood. In this community, there are people with low resources. The women of these families wash the thread and prepare it for the preparation. When ready they are the ones who, in a traditional loom, mix these threads to create the fabrics. Later in the same community of Budhanilkantha, tailors make the final preparation of the backpacks. Our certificate: B Corp ™ is a certification - with brands such as @Patagonia, @Ecoalf, and @Veja - that, using credible, comprehensive, transparent and independent standards of social and environmental performance, deeply assesses the global impact model of companies, in five categories: government, workers, customers, community and the environment. In addition, in perfect harmony with Hemper's mission to contribute to Nepal's socio-economic development, the B Corp community works to reduce inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, build stronger communities and create high-quality jobs with dignity and purpose.
